|BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS|
Kids Club* is a licensed before and after school program administered by Scottsdale Unified School District’s participating elementary schools. Early Bird drop off begins at 6:30 a.m. and after school operates from school dismissal until 6:30 p.m. Students are greeted each day by qualified child care specialists who facilitate activities that may include: arts and crafts, active group games, sports, team-building exercises, science, technology, and supervised homework time. Snacks are served everyday.
Robotics Club (3rd-5th Grade)
Students have the opportunity to build robots using special kits from Lego, called EV3 kits and NXT kits. More importantly, after robots are built members program them using computer applications. These programs tell the robot to perform a series of tasks.
KEY SKILLS: Building, Problem Solving, Programming, and Teamwork
Homework Club runs from 7:30-8:30 Tuesday-Friday in the library and is a place where students can come and complete homework or get help with homework from one of our teachers. Students need to come prepared with questions and topics needing research, so the teachers can help reinforce the skills taught in the classroom. This is for homework help on specific assignments or time to research.
Lego Club (Kinder-2nd)
This enrichment class allows students to use LEGO to express their artistic talent while applying math and science skills. Students have endless options to create individual and cooperative masterpieces! This class fosters math reasoning and spatial awareness of proportions and patterns. Physics and engineering skills are developed. Students develop and strengthen fine motor skills as they manipulate LEGOs and promotes language and social skills as students interact and share. Most importantly, students have fun building new creations with friends.
Enrichment Zone* engages students in fun activities that create a desire to learn.
Classes are offered throughout the year giving students an opportunity to explore activities of particular interest to them and their families
outside of the regular school program.
The language of tomorrow: Code. Code refers to computer language that developers create applications and websites. Students will develop these vital skills through problem solving activities and online applications teaching the foundations of writing code; CODE.ORG and SCRATCH
SKILLS: Organizing programs, writing programs, and problem solving.
Eagles Singers meets each Monday and Thursday after school in the music room, 3:30-4:30pm. Participants develop skills in music reading and theory, performance etiquette, and musical expression. Singers build confidence singing solo and with a group through a variety of warm ups, songs, and instrument activities. Open to grades 3-5, fall semester only. Concerts to be held December 15th. A club that enriches the fine art curriculum with a focus on three dimensional art. We will be using materials such as cardboard, recyclables and even clay. Students will get more individualized instruction and more creative input in their projects.
