arrow.gifFor the past 4 years, the high schools and middle schools have been using Naviance and Family Connection to perform numerous activities that help students prepare for high school and take their next steps after high school. As a part of a state mandated ECAP (Education Career Action Plan) requirement, school districts are introducing career exploration, college investigation, and introspective analysis of student’s personal strengths at earlier grade levels.  For the past few years Scottsdale Unified School District has implemented the use of Naviance and Family Connection as a tool at the middle school level to begin this process of exploration.
arrow.gifNaviance is designed especially for students and families to complete the ECAP. The student profile generated through Naviance will be used during the course of the student’s middle school/high school years and will be a valuable tool in assisting students in their future goals. The Family Connection component of Naviance is a comprehensive website that you and your child can utilize while discussing and planning for future courses, college selection, exploring personal strengths, setting personal and academic goals, and career choices. Family Connection is linked with Naviance Succeed™ and is a service that is used by staff to track and analyze data about college and career plans.  It provides up-to-date site specific information pertinent to each individual school. There is an annual $5.00 ECAP fee per student.
arrow.gifFamily Connection will allow you and your child to:
  • Get involved in the planning and advising process – Build a resume, complete online surveys, and manage timelines and deadlines for making decisions about colleges and careers
  • Research colleges – Compare GPA, standardized test scores, and other statistics to actual historical data from our schools for students who have applied and been admitted in the past
  • Research careers – Research hundreds of careers and career clusters, and take career assessments like the Do What You Are® test
  • Create plans for the future – Build course plans, create goals and to-dos, and complete tasks assigned to you by the school to better prepare yourself for your future college and career goals
  • Additional Lessons – Free SAT prep, note taking, study strategies and more
arrow.gifFamily Connection also allows us to share information with you and your child about upcoming meetings and events, local scholarship opportunities, and other resources for college and career information.
